Welcome to our HEDGEHOGS AVAILABLE web page. This page is designed to
highlight some of the hedgies that we have available for sale at the current time.

Originally we designed this page to showcase some of our PINTO COLOR patterns.

is well known in the hedgehog community for our exceptionally flashy

and well-marked PINTO HEDGEHOGS. Like pinto horses, each animal is
slightly different and unique. By using this page to post the pictures of some
of our PINTO "kids", we felt that our customers would have a better idea of
what marvelous color patterns are available.

Now that this page is available, we have decided to use it to post pictures of
other animals that we currently have in stock also. Check back often, as the
pictures and listings on this page will be constantly changing.

We will make every effort to keep the postings on this page current. However, since we have
full time jobs in addition to the hedgehog care responsibilities, it is
IMPORTANT THAT YOU CALL to confirm the availability of animals listed on this page.

This is a picture of an exceptional group of TOBIANO PINTO hedgehogs. PINTO refers to the aberrant white markings on the body. TOBIANO refers to the fact that they have a high percentage of white quills...not just a few small spots like the average PINTOS do.
Hedgehogs by Vickie is proud to be the original innovator of the TOBIANO PINTO color pattern in hedgehogs!!! It took us many years, careful pedigrees, and selective breeding to develope this flashy color pattern!!
Since posting pictures of some of these gorgeous HIGH WHITE PINTO hedgehogs on this page, we have had LOTS of requests for TOBIANOS. If you are interested, and don't mind waiting a bit...it might be wise to call us and get on our waiting list for TOBIANO PINTO HEDGEHOGS!

The snow has finally melted here in Chicago. This winter had drug on WAAAAY too long for us and the quilled kids. But we are happy to look forward to warm sunny days!!!!

We appologize for not being able to keep fresh faces of our little buddies posted on this page in recent weeks. Quite frankly, the majority of our baby hedgehogs have been pre-sold to folks on our waiting list for most of last year.

Our almost 14 years of raising wonderful little hedgies, and the customer referals that come with our reputation, have meant that we have not had many animals to showcase on this web page for awhile.

The good news is, that we are entering the Spring/Summer breeding season.
This means that we anticipate an increase of litters being born soon.

Here at HEDGEHOGS by Vickie we are continuously endeavoring to match up individual baby hedgies with families that are the right fit for each other.
If this sounds like that might be you, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to be placed on our WAITING LIST.

Please realize that the length of time that you will have to wait for your new baby hedgehog will be minimized if you are open to a variety of colors and sex possibilities. The more versitile you are, the shorter your wait!

We suggest that you spend some time on our COLORS PAGE and determine which hedgehog colors would be appealing to you.

When you contact us, we will advise you as to the price breakdowns of the various colors that we raise. We can also tell you at that time what litters are coming up, and how many folks would be ahead of you for that color/sex.

Currently, our average waiting time is 4-6 weeks. (Although a few lucky folks have had animals become available sooner!!!)
The common Standard color hedgehogs generally have the longest wait. (Everyone thinks of these when they think hedgies!)

Since WE are more fascinated with the fancier colored animals, that is what we tend to produce more of. And we like to mix up our pairings so that we have a few animals of a variety of colors being born at any given time.

On occasion recently, we have been able to showcase a few individual animals on this page.

Although we are on the verge of our busy season, we usually get more inquiries than we have hedgies.
Most or our babies are placed in new homes via our WAITING LIST system.
Please do not hesitate to give us a call for more information. We are always eager to "talk hedgehogs". We will be happy to answer all of your questions regarding upcoming availability.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) Most of our hedgehogs are sold locally.
2) When sold locally, they are generally between 6-8 weeks of age.
3) If you are out of the area, and will need for us to ship your hedgie via the airlines, we will not ship them until they are 8-10 weeks (due to the additional stress). So keep in mind that your wait time will be a tad longer than if you are willing to drive to the Chicago suburbs to pick him up.
4) We sell our baby hedgehogs to
PET HOMES ONLY.

This little Hedgie is VERY special.

He is a SUPER high quality
DARK EYED WHITE....and just look at how many white quills he has at this YOUNG age!!!!
(If only his nose and ears were BLACKER, we would expect him to appear to be almost a PLATINUM
as he matures and quills out. )

Not many white hedgehogs have this many solid white quills this early in life!!!!

If you are interested in a WHITE hedgie, and the pink eyes and skin of the ALBINOS don't appeal to you....this fella might be the one!!!

But wait! This isn't just about color...
This little man is all about personality too!!!!
A sweeter, more out going personality you will not find in a hedgehog!!!!

Ever since he was born in mid March, he has exhibited his extrordinary laid back attitude.

(Now don't get me wrong...his new owner will still have to commit to spending the first month or so bonding with this cutie on a daily basis....
BUT BOY WHAT A COMPANION PET HE IS GOING TO MAKE SOME LUCKY FAMILY!!!)

For those of you who watch this page regularly, we are constantly in the process of weaning more wonderful spikey babies.
