Hedgehogs are in the Insectivore family. In the wild, a hedgehog's diet consists
primarily of insects. In captivity, our pet hedgehogs need a ration that is a little more
convenient to feed than live bugs! The two most important components of a proper food for hedgehogs are high protein and a low fat content. Consequently, dry cat foods, with poultry as their main ingredient, have constituted the main staple of many hedgehog diets for years.

For over a decade, Hedgehogs by Vickie, has relied upon several brands of dry formula
cat food as the main diet for our hedgehogs. During this time, several companies have
endeavored to develop a dry food designed specifically for hedgehogs. Some have come
and gone. Some have been marketed regardless of the fact that they contained questionable nutritional value. Others have had great nutritional content and ingredients, however they
